First couple days on St George (2006) . .
The trip to St George was less difficult than I expected it to be- The car had a smaller amount of luggage than I had anticipated, the road had fewer cars cars, the GPS navigation system was more helpful than I anticipated.
Shana and I stayed at a Mariott in Biloxi after driving for about 10 hours. We woke at a leisurely pace and finished off the final leg of the drive in no time at all, arriving in Apalachicola at about 3:00 on Saturday afternoon.
The house was (is) beautiful, and has a sort-of nautical theme, and is sort of imposing and attractive at the same time.

More importantly, everything faces, and is open to, the ocean. Every room has a balcony that faces the ocean.
The main living space also has a series of windows and balconies that open to the ocean.

After arriving, we unpacked, jumped in the ocean, and spent some time catching up, then off to dinner at the Blue Parrot.
After this, I had the first placid night of sleep I’ve experienced in weeks. I wish this was something I could recreate at will, but somehow it seems tied pretty explicitly to a radical change in location and agenda.
