Team America World Police (review)
First, I'll say I thought the movie was hilarious from start to finish. From the musical number involving Kim Jong Il and the loneliness that accompanies the role of an evil genius to the cats (supposedly tigers) attacking the marionettes, I thought almost all of the attempts at humor in the film hit the mark squarely. The strange (yet pervasive) homoerotic undercurrent that frequently seems to accompany hawkish militaristic ideology, played out explicitly (and hilariously) in the songs and narrative of the movie.
Ideologically I found myself at odds a bit with the film, which seemed to argue that that preemptive action was justifiable and necessary, but only if you picked on the right asshole (Kim Jong Il in this movie). Regardless, I thought the whole thing was really funny.
