July 5th And 6th- Trip To SGI.
Well we left on Thursday the third and drove for about 14 hours to get to Apalachicola. We had been thinking about stopping halfway, but poor hotel planning on my part coupled with a desire to spend Friday in Apalachicola left us with few options. .
So we drove all the way to apalatchicola, to stay at the best westren there. It was fine, but a pretty taxing drive. When we woke up and drove off into town the next morning, we found that our car had a pretty bad flat tire. Ooch.
Pulling over immediately, we were lucky to run into a nice woman driving a golf cart adorned with multiple American flags. . lucky in that she called her husband who had a shop in his garage (!) and was able to help us put the donut on.
After this, we headed back to the hotel to change clothing and then in to Apalatchicola.
First stop, Cafe Con Leche, for some coffee. .
and a game of chess. . .

After wandering around for a while and grabbing lunch at Tamaras cafe, we haded back to the hotel for a nap and then to Port St. Joe for 4th of July festivities.
Port St. Joe seems to be a town entirely predicated on the Pt. St Joe railroad company. Although there is something of a main street, and a nice bookstore the town is mostly empty and has a patchy feeling to it. There's no real "center".
There seems to be a pirate theme to Port St Joe (good place for fsm adherents), and many were dressed as pirates for the 4th festivities.

Also, it was really quite hot , so after about 3 hours or so we gott pretty tired. We ended up heading home after grabbing some dinner, around 8:30.
