Back into the frey-
After a few days of doing laundry and pretty much nothing, I was ready to head out on vacation again.
We drove in to New Orleans about 6pm and arrive at the Bijou, the fabulous B and B we stayed at last year on our way to the beach. It was great to see Patty the owner. We chatted and caught up, but it wasn’t too long before we headed down the block to our favorite New Orleans restaurant, The Praline Connection. We had some delicious ribs and meatloaf with all the fixin’s and some sweet potato pie besides. Mmmmm. I wanted to go for a walk after dinner, but Jon was too wiped out from the meal and the drive, so we limped back home and crashed early.
With Jon canceling our post-dinner stroll and the schocking revelation of toothbrushgate, by the next day I had enough good will built up with Jon that we got to have a very special time. Friday we actually spent the whole day together out doing stuff—no naps, no whining. It was awesome because not only did we get to see the sights, we got to hold hands, cuddle, and say sweet things to each other.
After a delicious breakfast of fresh baked scones and challah,

we walked through the French Quarter, stopping at the Virgin Mega Store to buy some books. Then we caught the green streetcar to the garden district. We walked around the big fancy southern houses and then down Magazine Street with boutiques, restaurants, and other cool stuff. The weather was gorgeous all day long. I thought this port-o-potty had a clever name.
After a lunch at Café Roni of chicken club sandwich and amazing mango iced tea (take THAT Toronto) we took the streetcar back to the French Quarter.
We stopped in Harrah’s Casino. Jon had never been in one before, and I had only once, last year in New Orleans. We found the lowest price Black Jack table ($10 a hand) and it took about 3 minutes for Jon to lose 40 bucks. Luckily I snapped some photos quickly.

I just wanted to spend a few dollars on the slots, but things have changed in the past few years and the slot machines were too complicated for Jon and I to figure out. I know that sounds really dumb, but it’s true. Instead of one row, it’s like a whole matrix with different lines running through it. Casinos are just trippy and weird anyways. They’re like reverse ATM machines.
Then we went to the Aquarium, which had some pretty neat parts. Cool Jellyfish. We saw the penguins getting fed. I pet a shark. Jon put his had on this thing that electrocutes you to feel what an electric eel might do. We also saw this crazy seal.
After the Aquarium we walked home along the riverwalk along the Mississippi River and saw some lively street performers.
After such a fun, long day, Jon had earned some computer time. I took a nap at the B and B and Jon went to the internet café.
Later that evening, Patty’s dogs had come home from their dad’s house and we got to hang out with them. They are both very sweet and cute.

We were pooped again and it was another early night. We were awoken by the sweet smell of Patty’s own Patty cakes. Mmmmm….

Must Leave New Orleans Before I get Too Fat. . ..
